Archaeology Notes

NO87NW 29 825 753. A polished stone axe of pale green, fine grained metamorphic rock - ? hornfels - found at NO 825 753 on Gallow Hill, is in Dundee City Museum (Acc No 1971-319). It is 10.3 cms in length, 4.6 cms across the cutting edge. A spindle whorl of red sandstone, 3.9 cms in diameter and 1.2 cms thick was recovered from the same field. An irregularly shaped stone with a hole in it made by pecking from both sides was also picked up. These two finds were retained by the headmaster, Bervie School. A Small 1971; H Coutts 1971
