Archaeology Notes

NJ80NW 21 c, 84 07. In Inverurie Museum is a polished stone axe, 7 1/8" (181mm) long (Acc No: AF 33) from Brodiach, Kingswells (NJ 8407). It was donated by J Alexander, Brodiach in 1960. Also from Brodiach are two flint perforators and a flint knife. (Undated) information in Inverurie Museum accessions register. The axe has been petrologically attributed to group XXXII (epidiorite or altered dolerite, possibly from the Dalradian of northern Scotland). T H McK Clough and W A Cummins 1988. (Name cited as Brodiach, Kingswells). NMRS, MS/712/74. The collection of Inverurie Museum has been re-catalogued, but the new catalogue is incomplete and there is no easy system of identifying the new accession numbers of two flint perforators and a flint knife from Brodiach. The accession number of an axe from there is PEHMS: I 1031. Information from RCAHMS (JRS), 1 July 2001.
