NJ16NW 26 c. 14 67. In Elgin Museum is a large bronze spearhead, of Middle Bronze Age, Class 'F' type (J M Coles 1966) found during the digging of a well in hill of Roseisle in 1850. The largest in Scotland it measures 19 1/2" in total length, 3 1/4" across the base of the blade, which is 14 7/8" in length. There is no rivet hole in the socket. J Anderson 1888; J M Coles 1966. Illustration of spearhead. Archaeol J 1856. No further information was found regarding the find spot of the spearhead. Hill of Roseisle was not located from local enquiries. It is not certain whether the name applies to the actual hill (NJ 1447 6734) or a farm. No trace of a well was found on the Tappoch, but there is a cistern at NJ 1427 6732. The spearhead is in Elgin Museum. No acc. number. Visited by OS (W D J) 23 September 1963. Accession no: 1888.3 I C Walker 1972.
