Archaeology Notes

NJ40NW 9 c. 44 06. Two beads of vitreous paste, 1/4 inch in diameter and slightly triangular in shape, ornamented with a spiral of yellow on a bluish ground, were found near a Picts House at Coldstone (probably NJ40NW 10), and donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1868. (Accession nos: FJ 7 and 8) Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1870. (Class 13: North Scottish spiral-decorated beads). One bright semi-transclucent brown, diameter 2cm, height 1.8cm. One pale yellow translucent, diameter 1.5cm, height 1.1cm. M Guido 1978. There is no change to the existing record. Information from RCAHMS (JRS), 27 January 1999.
