Archaeology Notes

NF98SW 19 c. 91 82 Among the items from Berneray exhibited in Glasgow in 1888, on loan from Mrs McNeil, were a number of bronze brooches, pins and unspecified bronze objects, also collections of bone needles, pins and comb fragments. These articles subsequently came into the possession of the late Mr H H Mackenzie, factor of the North Uist estates, whose collection was donated to the Royal Museum of Scotland (RMS, formerly the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland [NMAS]) in 1972. However, the majority of the individual items cannot now be identified. International Exhibition, Glasgow 1888. J Close-Brooks and S Maxwell 1975.
