Original description

The finds from excavations at Ardnave, Islay carried out in 1979 - 80 under the direction of Dr J N G Ritchie and Mr H G Welfare. Pottery. Wall sherd with a slight horizontal cordon. Decorated by wide channelled lines forming a broad band of herringbone above and below the cordon, and two horizontal lines immediately below the cordon; also shell-edge impressions across the cordon, and in roughly horizontal lines near the lower edge. Fabric similar to 5 [HRB 3] but including larger grits, the outer surface pink-buff. Bank material of Period 2 - derived from Period 1.
