Original description

The finds from excavations at Ardnave, Islay carried out in 1979 - 80 under the direction of Dr J N G Ritchie and Mr H G Welfare. Pottery. Sherds from the body of a pot lacking the rim and base, though a detached sherd probably from this pot is from immediately above the base. There three grooves above the shoulder. Decoration by crisp lines which look like incisions but are shell-edge impressions, arranged in herringbone on the upper part and chevrons below the shoulder. Fairly hard and well-gritted dark brown-grey fabric. Layer 13. Ritchie, J N G, and Welfare, H G; PSAS, 113 (1983), pp 302 - 366, figs 8 - 10.
