Original description

The finds from excavations at Ardnave, Islay carried out in 1979 - 80 under the direction of Dr J N G Ritchie and Mr H G Welfare. Pottery. Sherds from the body of a pot lacking the rim and base, though a detached sherd probably from this pot is from immediately above the base. There three grooves above the shoulder. Decoration by crisp lines which look like incisions but are shell-edge impressions, arranged in herringbone on the upper part and chevrons below the shoulder.
