Archaeology Notes
NX58NW 1 5360 8637.
NX 53608637. A Middle Bronze Age spearhead (Class IV),found in clay by a farm-worker on Bennan Millyea, was submitted to Dumfries Burgh Museum in April 1967. It is in the possession of Mr Olsen of the Norwegian Shipping Line.

Two similar spearheads are on record from this approximate area. One, mentioned in 1792, and now lost, is located only to Glen Kens (NX 58 87) (R Riddell 1792). The other, which has been in Kirkcudbright Museum since at least 1887, is located to Kells (J Anderson and G F Black 1888) (Acc No 845).
Two Middle Bronze Age daggers (Group II) from Kells are also in Kirkcudbright Museum (Acc No's 844, 844A).
