NX65SE 21 6940 5260.
A claystone axe, 5 1/4 by 2 3/4 ins, with the cutting end fractured and imperfect, found in the garden at Ardendee (NX 6940 5260) is in Kirkcudbright Museum (Acc No 109).

Listed as a Group VI axe by Williams, who also notes a second axe from Ardendee (type unspecified), which is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (Acc No: 1927-4045). (Group VI comprises objects of epidotized intermediate tuff of the Borrowdale Volcanic Series from the Great Langdale and Scafell areas of Cumbria).
