NT27SW 14 2431 7180.
A stone quern and a rude stone Bason were found lying on a paved floor in the ground immediately to the east of Merchiston Tower. Donated to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1855.
The 'paved floor" on which these articles were found is "... apparently on the line of the old Roman road, which passed through Morningside towards Cramond .... " (Area centred at NT 2431 7181)
