Archaeology Notes

NT27SW 135 234 723 A Class III, Kirriemuir Group, flanged bronze axe found 'in transported soil' in Ardmillan Terrace (centred NT 234 723) is now in RMS(NMAS) (Acc No: DC 133). Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1958; J M Coles 1966. (Flanged axe: Baldersby variant of Kirtomy type). Single find. Flanged axe, smooth, brown surface on septum, butt damaged, short slope stop. Length 85mm, butt 22mm, cutting edge 40mm, stop-height 3mm, weight 175 gms. NMAS DC 133. P K Schmidt and C B Burgess 1981.
