Archaeology Notes
NS88SW 20 81 82.
A stone axe, of polished grit, 5" x 2", found near Denny (NS 8182) is in the Smith Institute, Stirling, along with another polished axe, of striated quartzite, from Denny (Accession nos: AC 95 and AC 114 respectively). A third stone axe from Denny, possibly of Group VI type, of a fine-grained andesite tuff, is in the Hunterian Museum, Glasgow (Acc No: A 40). (Group VI comprises objects of epidotized intermediate tuff of the Borrowdale Volcanic Series from the Great Langdale and Scafell areas of Cumbria).
