Archaeology Notes

NS57SW 29 c. 53 73. Two polished stone axes, probably but not certainly from New Kilpatrick (parish name: NS 53 73) are now in Glasgow Art Galleries and Museum. They measure 3 7/16" x 2 1/8" and 3 1/2" x 2 1/8". (Acc Nos: 8a-70 and 8b-70) Information from J G Scott to OS, 3 March 1952. These axes) have been petrologically attributed to group IX (porcellanite axes from Tievebulliagh and Rathlin, Northern Ireland). T H McK Clough and W A Cummins 1988.
