In Perth Museum, there is Roman sculptured stone depicting a warrior in a chariot drawn by a lion and a leopard. It was discovered at Barnes, near Gleneagles, where it was in use as a hearthstone in a ploughman's cottage.
Donor not known; no Acc number.
Visited by OS (W D J) 12 May 1967.
This stone is not Roman, but is of 16th or 17th century date and is part of a group of stones described by Ross (T Ross 1902) in PSAS and it also figured and described in Caledonia Romana (Thomson 1852).
The Perth Museum and Art Gallery also holds the Mercurius Stone.
