Archaeology Notes

NO01NE 13 c. 063 175. (Area NO 063 175 ) A stone cist 2'10" x 2'2 1/2" was discovered, 480 yards WSW of Kildinny Farm-steading and 11 (Coates 1918) or 14 (M'Laren 1919) yards north of the road, on November 16th 1917. It contained a skull, 17 loose teeth, and a number of pebbles, some rounded and some angular. The cist and skull went to Perth Museum. H Coates 1918; T M'Laren 1919. The exact site of this cist could not be established. The remains of the skull are in Perth Museum (Acc.No.230) but the present whereabouts of the cist or the pebbles are not known. Visited by OS (J T T) 3 November 1965. The exact location of this cist is not known; on the date of visit, the fields in the area where it was found were either arable or improved pasture. Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 22 November 1995.
