Archaeology Notes

NN81NE 11 c. 88 18 A large polished stone axe of Cumbrian type was found in or before 1898 on the Farm of Dalpatrick near Crieff, in cutting out the bottom of a potato pit, 3ft from the surface. The axe, 12 5/8ins long, 3 1/2ins across the cutting face, tapers to 2 1/8ins at the butt. It is in the National Museum of Antiquities (Acc. No: AF 455). Proc Soc Antiq Scot 1899; C I Fell 1964. There have been numerous changes in the tenancy of Dalpatrick over the last few years. No further information. Visited by OS (RD), 17 May 1966.
