NN82SE 16 c. 86 21.
A polished stone axe from Crieff (NN 86 21) was purchased for the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1909-10 (Accession no: AF 596). It measures 5 1/2 by 2 1/4 ins.

A second stone axe from Crieff was an exhibit in the Scottish Exhibition of National History, Art and Industry, held in Glasgow in 1911, on loan from A Henderson Bishop. (No details of this axe are given; it is presumably now in the Bishop Collection, Hunterian Museum, Glasgow). Palace of History 1911
Axe 'AF 596' is classified as Group IX. There is also a fragment of an axe of tuff from Crieff in Glasgow Art Galleries and Museum (Acc No: '55-96 un).

NMS AF 16 (Clough and Cummins PER 7) has been petrologically attributed to group IX (porcellanite from Tievebulliagh and Rathlin, Northern Ireland). GAGM '55-96un (PER 12) has identified as tuff.
