NM82NE 11 c. 852 288.
Area NM 852 288. In August 1897, during the construction of the road to the McKelvie Hospital, three urns containing cremated bones were discovered, one of which was a large Cordoned Urn found at a depth of 0.53 metres below the surface. The two other urns are said to have been about 0.23 metres in height. A stone battle-axe of Roe's Calais Wold group was found close beside the Cordoned Urn. This urn, and a cast of the battle-axe are preserved in the NMAS (Acc No EQ 251-2).
