Original description
[One of three] Iron Age brooches from Luce Sands, Wigtownshire. X.2008.49 = X.BHF 2 Fragment of a La Tène II short involuted brooch, the first known from Scotland (Fig. 5c). Surviving fragment comprises a three-coil mock spring, the outer coils cast in one with the curving D-sectioned pin, the central one leading to the deeply curved sub-rectangular sectioned body. The axis is a solid copper alloy cylinder. Dimensions: spring W 7.5 mm; surviving L 14 mm, H 12 mm. Second century BC. Found in Glenluce Sands Collections by FJH and allocated new number
