Early Historic human remains from carberry Road, Inveresk, Midlothian. ORF: IDENTIFICATION - Object Name: Human skeletal remains. Description: Parts of two adult skeletons found during excavations at Carberry Road, Inveresk. FIELD COLLECTION - Place: Inveresk (Carberry Road), Inveresk parish, East Lothian. Grid Reference: NT 3500 7141. Site Type: Burials. Period: Early Historic. Method: Excavation. Circumstances of Discovery / Notes: NMRS no: NT37SE 92. Excavation of a cable trench by SSEB on the S side of the railway bridge on Carberry Road revealed parts of at least two adult human skeletons. Only a few of the larger bones were recovered but it appears that one skeleton was articulated when found. There was no evidence for either a stone cist or wooden coffin, but the site had been severely disturbed by earlier service trenches. (cf. NT37SE 36.).
