Original description

[MOS List, II.5.1, Death: object list by case, JAS 3.2.98. Case no.: V08 - Identity: part of community]. [One of] Grave goods from cemetery at Barns Farm: - from Grave 3: - bronze dagger with remains of sheath. Trevor Cowie notes, 20 February 2014: Bronze dagger (FRN 98; NMAS EQ 919; fig 21.98; pi 11) the fragmentary core (surviving length 60 mm) of a small rivetted bronze dagger, with a very slightly raised middle which does not amount to a midrib. The edges do not survive, nor are there traces of the hafting mark: however, three pins or rivets from 9 to 11 mm long were recovered (FRN 91, 126a & 126b). They are roughly square in section and one has a slight hammering facet at one end. Rather less than half the leather sheath also survives, on which the original profile of the knife can be traced. (See section 16: samples 21-4 for analysis of material of sheath, which can be seen on fig 21 and pi 11.) For further discussion see Watkins 1982
