Original description

[MOS List, II.5.1, Death: object list by case, JAS 3.2.98. Case no.: V08 - Identity: part of community]. [One of] Grave goods from cemetery at Barns Farm: - from Cist 2: - whetstone / pendant. Trevor Cowie notes, 20 February 2014: Description after Watkins 1982: whetstone/pendant (FRN 77; NMAS EQ 904; fig 15.77) 50 mm long in a hard, pale grey schist, it has been fashioned very regularly to a short rectangle and has striations on the sides: the lower third of one face has been lightly smoothed. There is an hourglass perforation 12 mm from the narrower end. Although this object appears to represent the surviving portion of a longer piece, the distal end being apparently snapped off, smoothing of the angles of this end suggests that the object was reused. For further discussions see Watkins 1982
