Original description

The finds from a Bronze Age cairn at Limefield, Lanarkshire (RCAHMS 1978, Inventory no 77) excavated in 1966 - 67 by A MacLaren. Pottery. Fragments of rim and internal bevel, probably of a large Food Vessel, found with Beaker sherds (EQ 873) in area round the central pit. Orange-brown surfaces, black core. Hard, well-gritted fabric with medium-size grits. Broken along building-line. The broad internal bevel is decorated with an incised chevron design formed by two rows of opposed oblique strokes. Round the outer edge of the rim there are traces of a row of impression jabbed into the clay at an angle and possibly applied with a coarse comb or similar stamp. MacLaren, A; in, Between and Beyond the Walls, 1984, pp 97 - 116.
