Original description

The finds from a Bronze Age cairn at Limefield, Lanarkshire (RCAHMS 1978, Inventory no 77) excavated in 1966 - 67 by A MacLaren. Pottery. Internally bevelled rim, and body sherds probably all from the same vessel (probably a Food Vessel), from 'cist' 4. Wall thickness 8 mm. Exterior orange-brown; core black; interior buff. Heavily gritted hard fabric with medium to large-size inclusions. The external surface has been decorated with crude jabbed impressions, possibly applied with the epiphysis of a bone, or a stick, but the arrangement of the decoration is uncertain. MacLaren, A; in, Between and Beyond the Walls, 1984, pp 97 - 116.
