Original description

The finds from a Bronze Age cairn at Limefield, Lanarkshire (RCAHMS 1978, Inventory no 77) excavated in 1966 - 67 by A MacLaren. Pottery. A small, incomplete Food Vessel from cist 6; distinctly shouldered vessel with internally bevelled rim, a short slightly concave neck, and tapering lower body. The base is missing. estimated height c. 85 - 90 mm, rim diameter 106 mm, wall thickness 10 mm. Outer surface reddish-brown with some black mottling on the neck and rim; core black; interior buff. Hard, well-gritted fabric with small to medium grits, some extruding through the surface. The decoration falls into distinct zones. The broad internal bevel is incised with a running zigzag [...]. The neck has a similar zigzag motif [...]. The shoulder is emphasised by two mouldings [...]. Below the shoulder the pot is more fragmentary [...].
