Original description

The finds from a Bronze Age cairn at Limefield, Lanarkshire (RCAHMS 1978, Inventory no 77) excavated in 1966 - 67 by A MacLaren. Pottery. Incomplete Food Vessel, the base and a large portion of the body missing; from top level of cairn material in SE quadrant. A bipartite vessel with internally bevelled and externally rounded rim, concave neck terminating in pronounced ridged shoulder, and slightly conical body tapering to the base. Estimated original height c. 110 mm, rim diameter 154 mm, wall thickness 7 mm. Outer surface reddish brown, core black, interior reddish brown becoming light buff towards the base. Fairly hard, well-gritted fabric; exterior smoothed. The decoration is profuse, rather irregular in places and mainly applied as alternating horizontal zones of incised and jabbed ornament. [ ... ].
