Original description

The finds from a Bronze Age cairn at Limefield, Lanarkshire (RCAHMS 1978, Inventory no 77) excavated in 1966 - 67 by A MacLaren. Pottery. Sherds and fragments representing the rim, concave neck and base of a Beaker found with sherds, probably of a Food Vessel (EQ 884), scattered in and around the central area. Rim diameter 165 mm, wall thickness 9 mm, base thickness 15 mm. Yellowish-buff surfaces, with black core. Hard fabric, profusely gritted with inclusions up to 7 mm, some erupting through the surface. Haphazardly decorated on the neck with a very irregularly incised criss-cross design; over-all pattern uncertain (Ritchie, 1970, 145, no. 30).
