Original description
Copper alloy: Bronze socketed axe; bag shaped; oval mouth with filing marks; filing marks of seams; loop damaged; tiny pin of metal standing upright in interior; dark green/brown rough textured surface. Considered to be a fake (compare DE 86). Schmidt &Burgess 1981, 256, no 1759F. From collection given by Miss Brown, Lanfine, August 1890. Edinburgh Museum of Science and Art description - Prehistoric Bronze Implements. Celt. Oval socket, loop on one side, and curved expanding edge. Found in Scotland(?). L. 2 5/8 in., W. 2 in.
