Original description

Ceramic: Beaker, intact apart from some springing around upper part of vessel; interior grey - greyish-brown; exterior greyish-brown / reddish-brown. Interior of rim bevelled. Decoration consists of comb-impressed designs arranged in three zones separated by three narrow reserved zones around neck / belly junction and below greatest girth. On external edge of rim, there are oblique impressions; with this exception, the three zones of decoration are very similar. Each consists of a row of vertical lines with a multiple horizontal chevron pattern above and below. These patterns are bordered by paired horizontal lines except in the case of the basal zone, where the lowest pair has been omitted perhaps due to lack of space. From a cist discovered and investigated in 1944 at the highest point of a level terrace just over 600' OD at the edge of the steep brae falling away to the Thorter Burn. Childe, V G 1944, 116 - 119. (Trevor Cowie, 15/02/1988). Loan Description - Beaker Urn of Clay, found in a cist at Nunraw, Garvald, E. Lothian. See Proc. vol LXXVII or LXXVIII.
