Original description

SCULPTURED STONES, CROSSES, ETC. Symbol stone from Easterton of Roseisle, Burghead (1894 where it was in a cist-like structure). Anon notes, PSAS LXVIII 1933-34 p 55 fig 1; and, 43 1/2 x 20 x 7 1/2". MOSAICS note, April 1997: This stone has been used twice as a Pictish symbol stone. [The first side] shows the original symbols - a crescent with a bite out of it, a crescent and a V-rod, and a mirror and comb. These symbols were partly defaced, perhaps when the newer symbols were carved on the other side. [The second side] showing the newer symbols - a goose and a fish, probably a salmon. 7th or 8th century. Updated from SCRAN full data set, December 1998.
