Original description

NEWSTEAD COLLECTION. Narrow, pointed plate of iron, with three nail holes in it, + about 1 1/2" of a circular rod projecting from one end. HMcC note, 1998-99: Updated from SCRAN full data set. [Scran caption] This iron fitting of unknown function was found at the site of the Roman fort at Newstead in Roxburghshire. It dates from between 80 and 180 AD. The fitting is made of a narrow, pointed plate of iron, with three nail holes in it. A circular rod projects from one end. Date: Between 80 and 180 AD. Material: Iron. Dimensions: Length of circular rod at end: around 38 mm
