Original description

Romano-British Pottery, Glass Vessels, &c. Bronze handle of large vessel, with head of Medusa, a deer, &c., partly inlaid with silver. Cairnholly, Kirkcudbright. Anon note, Should be F T. (F. Hunter note, 22/1/96: The handle was found during ploughing on the farm of Cairnholy; there is no association with the chambered cairns. Source - M M'L Harper 1896, Rambles in Galloway, 2nd edition, Dalbeattie; Thomas Fraser). F. Hunter note, 2013-01-21: Surface XRF analysis showed that the alloy was a bronze (analytical report 96/25).
