CHARMS, AMULETS, ETC. Pendant formed of a small quartz pebble in a mount of copper strips .15" wide which encircle it twice; length, including loop, 1.25", diam. .7". Found on the Culbin Sands. Updated from SCRAN full data set: CHARMSTONE FOUND AT CULBIN SANDS, MORAY Ref: H.NO 82 INTRODUCTION - This small quartz pebble was used as a charm. It was found at Culbin Sands in Moray. Quartz is often found in prehistoric burials and had a ritual significance. DESCRIPTION - The pebble is formed into a pendant with a mount of copper strips encircling it twice and imitating crystal spheres. It is mounted for dipping in water. BACKGROUND - The pebble was given to the Museum by E. S. Harrison in 1952. DETAILS - Date: 18th century Material: Stone (quartz). Dimensions: Length: 32 mm; (Diameter;18 mm).
