Original description

[One of] Three brooches of silver, Cross, Chain, & mass of silver pennies of James I [A.KO 27 - 33], found in 1878 in purse hid in wall of old house in Dumfries.//T. Deniozou note, 2011-02-18, Information taken from Glenn, Virginia, Romanesque & Gothic: Decorative Metalwork and Ivory Carvings in the Museum of Scotland, NMSE Publishing, Edinburgh, 2003: [One of] B1, C42, 41-2 [Angels, Nobles and Unicorns reference] //The square cross has four short tapering arms, the top arm with a round collar and a suspension ring, the other three terminating in spherical knops. A single engraved line frames the central disc and the arms front and back. The disc is engraved with the reversed inscription on one side and radiating short lines on the other. The arms are decorated with parallel transverse lines.
