Original description

Flat circular brooch of silver, 2 1/4" dia. inscribed IHESVS NAZARENVS, REX. Woodhead, Canobie, Dumfriesshire. Caption note, February 1993: Deposited at Canonbie, c. 1298 - 1302.//T. Deniozou note, 2011-02-04, Information taken from Glenn, Virginia, Romanesque & Gothic: Decorative Metalwork and Ivory Carvings in the Museum of Scotland, NMSE Publishing, Edinburgh, 2003: [One of] B1, C42, 41-2 [Angels, Nobles and Unicorns reference] //The flat ring brooch is complete with pin and has the inscription on the front within single marginal lines. The lettering is crude but legible with the letters s reversed. The pin is flattened oval in section with a rectangular collar decorated with two horizontal grooves.
