Original description

Urquhart Castle. [One of] Collection of relics found during the restoration of the Castle by H.M. Office of Works - see Register for 1923 pp.53-63 and Loan Register 1923. 5-140. PSAS 112, 1982, 465-476. [One of] Strike-a-lights or buckles. The former identification is preferred by Laing (MacDonald & Laing 1977, 154). There are two other possible examples from Threave Castle (Good & Tabraham 1981). Compare the series of these from Novgorod in Russia (Thompson 1967, 74-5).
