Original description

Urquhart Castle. [One of] Collection of relics found during the restoration of the Castle by H.M. Office of Works - see Register for 1923 pp.53-63 and Loan Register 1923. 5-140. PSAS 112, 1982, 465-476. Sword cross-guard. Oakeshott (1964, 113) style I, very common form of straight bar, slightly bent, presumably of relatively constant thickness, but it is very corroded. The gap for the blade is 29mm at its narrowest. Laing (MacDonald & Laing 1977, 20) suggested this was a small pick. SD note, November 1999: Upgraded from PSAS.
