Original description
Urquhart Castle. [One of] Collection of relics found during the restoration of the Castle by H.M. Office of Works - see Register for 1923 pp.53-63 and Loan Register 1923. 5-140. PSAS 112, 1982, 465-476. Ring brooch of hexagonal shape with concave sides, which are planoconvex in section. Reminiscent of the previous type II brooch [HY 14] ...The pin is simply beaten sheet metal and the head is a simple loop. Callander (1924, 183) dates this to the 15th century but again a century later is possible. SD note, November 1999: Upgraded from PSAS.
