Original description

Tools, Implements & Miscellaneous. Baler of wood, rudely cut from the solid, oval, 8 7/8" x 5 7/16" x 3 1/8", the handle 3 1/2" long, found in a peat moss on Grimsay, Outer Hebrides. [Scran caption] This wooden boat bailer was found in the peat at Grimsay on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. This example dates from sometime between 1400 to 1000 BC. The oval bailer was cut from a solid piece of wood. It has a short handle. [MoS description] Getting around. Ships and boats. Boating equipment. (4) Boat bailer, Grimsay. 1400 - 1000 BC.
