Description and Sources
Inverness Museum's archive files contain a letter describing a small stone axehead in its collection. Triangular in shape with a pointed butt, it is described to measure 65mm by 13mm with a blade width of 30mm. It had a greenish-grey surface streaked with brown on one face, and may have been made of jadeite. It was a stray find from Lower Newport, Berridale, found in a bank on the verge of the A9 when work was being carried out in the road in 1936. The grid reference is given as ND 124 235. It is listed under Acc. No. 1977.049.002. <1> <2>
