P R Ritchie and J G Scott 1981.
The axe that is held in the Hunterian Museum under accession no. B.1914.105b is said to come from 'Glack House'. It has been petrologically attributed to group XXXII (epidiorite or altered dolerite, possibly from the Dalradian of northern Scotland).
T H McK Clough and W A Cummins 1988.
Location cited by GRC/AAS as NJ c. 75 28.
NMRS, MS/712/70.
Of the four stone axes reported from Daviot, the present location of the axe that was last recorded by the Ordnance Survey in Aberdeen Regional Museum in 1969 is not known. At that time the axe formed part of a joint display of material from several museums, including Aberdeen City Museum and Art Gallery, Marischal Museum, and Inverurie Museum. The present location of the axe sold at auction in 1892 is also not known, but the axe from 'Glack House' is still in the Hunterian Museum (B.1914.105b). The fourth axe, made of 'flagstone', is in the Marischal Museum, Aberdeen (ABDUA: 19996).
Information from RCAHMS (JRS), 14 October 2003.
