Small round metal ball found during dredging operations in the River Southesk [South Esk]; 104mm circumference. Possibly used in a 'hagbut of crok'. This was a small field gun mounted on a cart, in a gunloop or on battlements, used in the 15th and 16th centuries. Acc no. M2001.164
