Original description

Finds from excavations at West Water Reservoir, West Linton, Peeblesshire. Type of site: Short cist cemetery. Date: Early Bronze Age. Finds from the Early Bronze Age cemetery (area A). [EQ 1053]. Beaker base sherd, feature 2 (= sf 61). Part of a base and lower wall; the latter splays at an angle of 125 degrees, and the estimated base diameter is c. 100 mm. Undecorated, and more heavily gritted than EQ 1051-2; definitely not part of the same pot as EQ 1052, and unlikely to belong with EQ 1051. Indeterminate type of Beaker. The exterior and part of the core are reddish-brown, the rest of the core and interior dark grey. Surfaces carefully smoothed; exterior probably well-smoothed, then slightly polished. Inclusions abundant (15-20%) but well-concealed from exterior surface; rounded, sub-angular and angular grits of several rock types, up to 6 x 3.8 mm. 40 x 37 x 8.2-8.9 mm.
