Original description

ROMANO-BRITISH. From Roman Fort at Mumrills. Undressed piece of sandstone 13" x 9" x 2 1/2", having on one surface a roughly cut arrow mark, 4 1/2" broad, with a round hole 1 1/4" across and 3/4" deep at the point of the mark. Trevor Cowie notes 20 August 2014: this is a presumably a modern surveyor's bench mark, comparable to the example from West Whitecastle Farm, Libberton, Lanarkshire (NMS: X.IB 304). See Davidson, JL 'Note on a carved stone found within the fort on West Whitecastle Farm, Libberton, Lanarkshire' PSAS 108 (1976-78), 383.
