Description
Ovate, full face, 1/2 portrait of Mary Queen of Scots wearing black hood and close-necked gown, pearl necklace and fastener. Holding a crucifix in right hand. Copy made c.1785 from a work in the possession of Prof John Stuart (Professor of Greek at Marischal College from 1782). The painting is similar in description to that known as 'The Orkney Portrait'.
